I have messy leak at the back of my transmission. I think its the sealant at the transfer case. There is fluid everywhere under the truck. Is this a common issue? Also, the cap to my power steering is not releasing pressure. I opened the cap earlier and it had pressure build up. Has this ever happened to anyone?

I've got an '05, G56, 4x4 and the power steering reservoir always has backpressure. Some suggest its normal while others have vented theirs. In addition, its hoses weep ATF-4 and the steering box itself always has a 'drop' hanging. I thought my front differential was leaking until I wiped red fluid off of it. Nope, just ATF-4 blowback. I check the reservoir fluid level periodically ( pop ) with engine off, and the 'cold' level mark is where it should be. I hope your leak is of no consequence, and I'm sorry to not have any suggestions other than to get it to a trusty shop and have pros see to it. Good luck.

If everything else is dry, the two most probable leaking points would be the rear trans seal or the front T-case seal. Without dropping dye in one or the other, it is difficult to tell which one it is. Another possiblity is that the seals are good but the vent for one of them is plugged and 'pushing' the fluid past. if you clear the vents the leak may go away.

Another thing that might be leaking... . not sure where your seeing fluid???? But my 06 with the g56 my rear crankshaft seal was leaking with 6K on the clock...  ..... That was a quick fix though when i put in the new SB clutch

could it be the blow by (blow back?) tube? it runs down the drivers side of the engine and ends in front to the trans. I noticed some oil on the trans the other day, but then saw drips from this tube.

I just noticed my tube was leaking pretty good. i thought it was my diff cover. is this normal? it never did it before, i wonder if i need to put a bottle under it.

For what its worth I just had the yolk replaced on mine due tue oil spray all around the bottom of the bed and exhaust by the transfer case tail shaft assembly. This also reduced my vibration problem by about 90%.

I have the same leak and they are changing my yoke on monday. It took two "five star" service departments to find the problem.
