I already have over 100K on my 2004 and the companion flange has developed a leak. I checked into the parts and they were $125. 00 plus install.

I called Tenafly Dodge in NJ and they priced a complete driveline for under $200. 00 plus shipping. Getting a live human there is no small feat, but they give a 30% discount on Dodge parts. The part lists for $279. 00

They used my VIN to pull up the part and assured me that it was a complete drive line, ready to be bolted on. I would much rather have this than spend a $200. 00 and still have a drive line full of worn out joints. The part number that they provided me with is:52105655AB. I think the AB means that the part has under gone revisions since launch. With the u-joint and companion flange problems, that have been experienced, I am not suprised.

Drive shaft price

I think you are only going to get the piece that goes into the transfer case up to the first U-joint not the entire shaft. I looked at this once before and a complete driveshaft assembly 2 piece is over $1000 from Dodge. Ken Irwin

On the short beds, they only have one piece. I asked them specifically if it was the complete shaft. He looked at the break down, and comfirmed that it was. We will see when it shows up. The 2 piece drive shafts have a list price from $450. 00 to $495. 00

That shows as a complete one piece shaft. Actually supersedes to an AD or AF, all the same price.

He actually told me it was an AG. We did not have an interpreter, and New Jersey G's and B's sound the same. I could not find the G designate, but I was able to find the B.

Does it look like I got the right shaft on the way? If so, I would think that most would want to replace rather than repair for the same price.

I wonder if I should take it to a drive line shop for balancing before I install it?

Thanks

I have read many people here with 03 and 04 trucks that have driveline vibration cured by balancing. My hope is that by the time they get to a "G" revision, they may have some of the issuses worked out.

If they are better balanced, it may be cheaper to get a new one than try to diagnose/balance a bad one.

I didn't think I had read many posts that rebalancing repaired. Another new shaft repaired them I thought. My experience with NEW shafts being rebalanced has been poor. The ones I did on New Cadallics came back far worse vibration wise. Another new factory shaft cured them. Now I have had shafts custom made by same driveline shop that were fine. But not rebalancing new factory shafts. I did a 1/2 dozen over the years and ended trashing them.
