leaky fan? maybe

just got done putting the tst back on my truck and happened to notice there is a greasey type substance on my fan shroud . do these fans have a fluid in them that could leak ? I have a code showing that is fan related I think, 0483. any ideas??? seems to be on the shroud only

Here is what i found in the 04 service manual:



Viscous fan drive operation is not affected by small oil stains near the drive bearing. If leakage appears excessive, replace the fan drive unit.
