Anybody have water coming through the rear of the cab? I do. It appears to be comming from the combination stop/bed light mounted on top of the rear of the cab. I've taken the sucker off 3 times now and attempted to reseal it. The water drips into the cab at the top of the rear window centered on the headliner above the window. I contacted dodge, they said they would be happy to sell me a new stoplight at the tune of about 87 bucks. Since my truck has 42 k on the odometer, no dice in getting it repaired under warranty. If one of you guys has had similiar problems, let me know. I need a fix for this that wont cost an arm and a leg. Thanks, wet in Seattle!

Sealer

I had the same thing happen to my 98. I just used clear silicon calk to seal between the matting surfaces. It never leaked again

Sparky,

I got a new gasket from Dodge. Then cleaned all the surfaces with brake cleaner. Carefully put the light back on so the gasket was right. No leaks in over 100K miles since.

I'll try to get a new gasket. Dodge said the light and gasket come together and there is no part number for the gasket itself. Should be a . 50 cent part, but coupled with the brake lense it is 87 bucks! I'm not going to pay that for a piece of foam and a lense that I dont even need. If I cant the gasket by itself, then I'll try the sealer method.

Thanks for the replies, I'll let u guys know what works.

Sparky,

Someone is lying to you!! I just went to the Dodge dealer here in Eureka and bought the gasket. No problem. They had to order it so I had to wait a couple of days. It was really cheap. I don't think I still have the receipt since it was quite a while ago so I have no idea what the part number is.

I used the 1/4 inch foam backed weather stripping from the local hardware. placed carefully arround the edge of the lense and screwed in place. Dry ever since. What a relief. Oo.

Ok, I contacted Dodge, armed with the proper part number, thanks to you guys, and low and behold they have them in stock! I'll be stopping by my friendly Dodge dealer this Saturday to pick up my stop lamp seal.

Thanks again to all who posted responses.

If it still gives you trouble try this, i used the putty tape that is used on RVs to install windows and vents. About $3. 00 for a roll at RV shops.
