Just had my turbo off and the lube line seems to be leaking at the threads. It is as tight as I dare get it. I'm thinking about some thread sealer, either teflon tape, or TFE pipe thread sealer.

The sealer has a temp rating of 500*. I don't know the teflon tape temp rating. My main concern would be something getting into the lube port next time the line is removed.

Any opinions on this slight dilemma, please?

Thanks

There is a copper washer that goes in the hole before putting the line on. I have heard it isnt needed but it might stop your leak. It seals at the shoulder at the bottom of the hole and the flare on the hose end rather than the threads so tape and other stuff wont do much good.

Copper washer, eh?:confused:

Never saw it :eek:

The turbo Dr. didn't give me one with the gaskets, either :{

Thanks for the heads up on that.

There it was

first thing this a. m. , with a cool engine, I pulled off the oil line.

There was a washer in there. I pulled it out, and it was a little gouged. I took some fine sandpaper and smoothed it up for a while. Then I look in the other end of the connection and saw that there was a little bump inside the flare.

I massaged this for a minute or so with my pocket knife, cleaned everything up, threw some teflon tape on the threads for good measure, and reassembled it.

Bye Bye leak.

Thanks for the info.
