This is my first truck with leather seats and was wondering what the proper care procedure is. The latest Geno's catalog has some products for leather seats; are they good? Today, I noticed a few small tears or rips on the passenger side seat. That seat has been sat in only a few times; I know it only takes one time for something to happen. What can be done to repair the seat and what can be done to prevent future problems? Any chance it could be a warranty fix? Wishful thinking, huh? Thanks for any advice.

Hey Bob W, I used to like cloth seats better since the leather can get hot in the summer and cold in the winter, but the good thing about them is they are really easy to keep clean. I use Lexol products - the same thing as in Geno's catalog. There are 2 parts, one is a cleaner, the other is a conditioner. Regular use will keep the seats looking new. Given how new your vehicle is, I would certainly give the dealer a try. If they won't warranty it, a good upholstery shop should be able to make minor repairs that aren't even visible.
Good luck.

Like mentioned above, the best stuff I know of for maintaining leather it Lexol.
The only way to repair leather seats is to un-stitch the ripped section and sew in a new "patch panel". If you have kids (or dumb friends) then throw on some heavy seat covers!

I used Lexol products from Geno's on my '97--3 years and 70,000 miles and still looked like new when I traded it in. I'm using the same on our '00 3500 SLT+.

Just make sure no one gets close to the truck with a screwdriver sticking out of their pocket!!

I don't have leather seats in my pickup, but I do have them in a '96 Chrysler. I have used a leather treatment product that contains Mink oil on the leather every 6 months and after 6 years and 85k miles, the seats look as good as new. HOWEVER, the car is garaged, so the sun doesn't get a chance to dry out the leather as much. My niece, with the same model car, did nothing and her car sits out 100%, and her leather looks very bad --cracked, etc. I didn't really want leather seats when we bought the 96, but glad we had them . Now have them on a 01. Leather really doesn't need much care, but it does need some.
