Leather Seats (Vinyl Rear)

I inquired to DaimlerChrysler Customer Relations on this subject with the rear seats of Laramie Rams in particular if the rear seats were Leather or Vinyl. Here is their reply:



Dear Shawn:



Thank you for your email expressing interest in Dodge Trucks.



The leather seating option on the 2003 Ram does come with preminum vinyl

seating on the rear seats. This vinyl seating is of the highest quality

and is very comparable with the leather front seats.

Could you please answer a question I have regarding the new 2003 Ram

Quad

Cab with the Laramie Package. I have been hearing conflicting

information

in regards to the leather seating. I was told that ALL dodge Rams with

leather seating have ONLY leather front seats, and the rear seat is a

high

grade vinyl. Is this a true statement, or are the rear seats leather

also.

I like a cloth interior normally, but I like many options that are only

avaliable on the Laramie, which is only avaliable with the leather I am

told. My children will ride in the back seat, and I want the same

quality

of seating for them as well.

Yep, that's true. It's been that way as far back as I think the leather option has been available. Our '97 and '00 trucks with leather had vinyl on the rear.



The front seats on the '97 and '00 had a full leather seating surface, but the '03s are just a leather insert in the center.

Actually the entire seating surface of the front seat cushion and back are leather or suede. Any part that touches your back and butt. The head rest and sides of the seat are vinyl. At least on the Laramie it is that way.

The "Premium Suede" on the Laramie seat and back, front and rear, is a synthetic (and very comfortable).

glad i did not pay all that money for vinyl. i am adding leather after the fact for much cheaper and a better grade of leather looking into getting a king ranch type leather. now thats leather seats!
