You single guys better scramble

I have heard "it is coming" to the US for a while now. Everyone is waiting on us to get the clean (ULSD) fuel and we will have more diesel choices like Europe. I would love to see Honda's diesel available. My lady friend has an Accord 5-speed 4-cylinder. She said she would be interested in an engine that is both more powerful and more fuel efficient. The Honda diesel appears to be quite an engineering marvel. I am all for something that stays away from that urea mess to meet emission standards.

I've seen quite a bit of press on this lately. Honda is *hoping* to have the 50-state engine by 2008. We'll see, I guess.

When, exactly, would a low swirl ratio be more appropriate than a high swirl ratio? I don't really like the glow plugs, but that's a minor complaint. My goodness... 3mm between cylinders!?

I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Me too! Between Honda or Toyota - I'd definitely buy one of their cars.

They seem to be the first to REALLY take the amount of intake air swirl seriously. It obviously affects the operational characteristics of the engine and having it continuously variable is an interesting concept.

Other than that - the rest of the engine isn't anything revolutionary.

Pretty Impressive. I've converted the Metric units on power and economy and come up with: HP: 138. 12, Torque: 250 ft lbs, and 43. 55 mpg.

Some pretty innovative stuff.
