New truck

It bothers me to read posts from people who "hate" the new Ram. I think DC did a fantastic job on this new truck. I think the design is the perfect mix of the 2nd Gen. Ram, with a more modern freshening of the whole truck to breathe new life into the design. It's still the big, bold truck it's always been. But more refined. I wish we had a way to drag back the posts from the guys who are bashing the truck now, AND WHO WILL NO DOUBT BE THE ONES TALKING ABOUT HOW MUCH THEY LOVE THEIR NEW '03 OR '04 MODEL. MARK MY WORDS. These are probably the same guys who thought the '94 Ram was stupid looking and would never sell. RALLY BEHIND YOUR COMPANY. SUPPORT DC'S NEW EFFORT, AND WISH THEM PROSPERITY. IT WILL ONLY HELP YOU HAVE MORE INNOVATIVE AND FUN PRODUCTS TO ENJOY IN THE FUTURE. Thanks for reading.

Drove one

I test drove one last week and loved it. It has to be the best riding truck I have ever been in, and as far as those that say its not big enough in the cab, pull your quadcab next to it and take a look about 4 more inches in the new ram. I think it looks pretty good also not as good as my 99 but I also have na extra $6,000 of aftermarket goodies on the 99. :D I agree, I think DC did pretty good with the new truck, the new dash and the hole inside of the truck looks very good too.

If the dealer keep on dropping the prices and adding more insentives I think my mom is going to buy one.

New ram

. Stopped in and took a look at one the other day,Man that grille is big. it'll take a little getting used to but I liked it. It was a "crew cab" but thats all i've seen so far. Definatley more room in back-not a full crew but better. I think people forget Dodge set the standard back in 94 and now the others are trying hard to imitate that look. When I first saw a sooperdooty I said "nice Ram"then I did a double take when I saw the blue oval. Said Man there's got to be some kind of copyright infringement there"Still love the look of the Ram tho. All dodge did was improve on what they had with the 2002. Some people are afraid of change. It even took Me a little while to warm up to the 2nd gen. but now drive my 99 with pride :D :D . Doug

I too have driven this new 2002 Dodge design and I can truthfully say it was a very nice driving truck!! I was very impressed with the way it was designed, such as the frame with the crunch area to absorb if hit on the front. The side air bags, the dash, all the storage areas etc. I realy liked the rear doors and how they opened a full 90 degrees, and the windows rolled down completely!

One must remember however, that the 4-door is not a "Crew Cab"! It is a "Quad Cab"! Dodge is only building a "regular" Cab that is three inches larger all around, and a "Quad" Cab with 4 independent doors, instead of three different cabs, such as Ford and GM are doing. Personaly, I think they are on the right track. If they only have to build two different cabs instead of three, they are saving money while giving the consumer a truck that has plenty of room in the cab.

Yes, it's a nice looking truck. I really like the fact that it makes my '01 look so much better.

I din't notice when there but the book says the bed is shorter than before and thats where the room came from with out making the wheel base to long. I don't personally like the exterior of the new ram but the interior is very well laid out and comfortable. It is not realy much smaller in the back than the GM crew cab.

I personally think they are ruining them. The grill looks like a giant tennis racket and the common rail injection is going to make the Cummins rattle like the Duramax. The motor is going to really suffer with this EPA garbage, and only 275 hp????

I just don't understand it, but maybe I will grow on me.

I'm withholding judgement

I took a look at a new 1/2 ton Ram at the Tx rally. It was ok for a half ton gasser ;) :p The "four door" part is a laugh. If I knew it was still just gonna be an extended cab, I would have rather they left the "suicide" doors as I think they are classier. I'm waiting to see what the H/D's look like. If, after all of this time, the H/D "four doors" come out and they are, once again, just extended cabs, I forsee Ford's sales going up. Alot of folks are holding out because they've heard over and over, "There will be a full four door model when the H/D's come out. " Hmm, with the Germans running it, I'll believe it when I see it. As far as "Rally behind your company"... it ain't my company. If these two Rams were to leave me dissatisfied, I'd be in a Ford in a second. Blind brand loyalty should be left to the Chevy guys... ... . "Don't worry, the NEXT GM diesel will be THE ONE!" LOL :p:p

IMO, the 1500 new ram is just another step to the death of the ram. The interior is made for a person who has a 36" waist and is 6' tall. Anyone with a wide butt will not like the seats. For me they were very uncomfortable. Trucks should not be civilized. Try grabbing the corner of the front bumper. It flexes AT LEAST 2 inches.

I Like the Cab Layout,And Styling

The Cab forward is really Forward! Anymore forward and the Windshield would start over the radiator!

With that said,

If the Next Generation Cummins has all the Geartrain on the Back of the Engine, Its going to be a Royal Pain in the Butt to Fix it when ever in needs fix'n.

Doug.

we're entitled to our opinions!!

first to castor--if it bothers you to read posts bashing the new ram, i have a very simple solution. DON'T READ THEM!! the United States is a great country. we have the freedom of choice.

we were attacked on 9/11/2001 because we have such freedoms.

there-- that being said. no i don't like it. i don't like the grille or the windshield angle and i haven't seen one up close yet. not that my opinion would change.

VEETEN JEFF--brother, i know your pain. 'nuff said. are you going on the 13th?

Support DC?

They can kiss my***

I'll stick with my 12 valve.

They built a body that DID not sell for 25 years!

Now they have one that does sell and they screw it up! Stoopid Germans.

I would rather they beef things up instead of wasting time, with "new, innovative styling".

BTW, I loved the 94's as soon as I saw them.

While i was looking under the hood i saw the radiator mounted to one side and the A/C condensor and trans cooler on the other side. Looks odd.

I am 6'3 and found the 02 to be pretty comfortable. I got the front seat adjusted to my liking and then jumped in the back. My knees were against the front seat a little but not to bad really. I can't even get in my 99 behind the drivers seat. The new grill looks good as long as its NOT CHROME. I saw a red 02 with a red grill and it looked alot better than the chrome one. I have also seen one with an 8 foot bed already.

I hope the 3/4T is bigger in the back like they say it might be. If I buy a club cab, it's for people to ride back there and I sure wouldn't want to ride in the back of the new 1/2T pseudo club cab for very long! I didn't notice the radiator but sounds like a great idea! Don't put the heat of the accesories in front of the radiator. Craig

The Owner of Melton Dodge in Claremore OK pulled his race car to the dragstrip today with one, and raced the truck lol. I looked at the radiator deal and its wierd looking but no a bad idea really. However I do not think that will work with the CTD trucks due to the huge rad and Intercooler. LOTS of room in the engine compartment though.

BTW the truck was a 4x4 and ran a 17. 03 was the best I saw from it. 360 truck

SPORT

If I was to buy one I would go with the sport model as the other has to much chrome up front, makes the grile look too biggg.

Nice BUT... not a true crew cab... a VERY VERY cheap grill... the dash is too flat, looks to much like a rice burner not like a truck.

I just hope the 3/4 and 1 ton's don't look like this,it just looks cheap and i think the bed is't even 8` on the long bed style.

Will try to keep up some hope for the 03-04 years.....

As a crew cab would be nice with my boy's.

I saw my first one today too. Was a 2x4 standard cab. I like bigger front grill... ... sort of. I stood there and looked at it for quite some time, and had a really hard time figuring out why something just didn't look right... hmmmmm... what was it... . ? Then I finally figured it out! Dodge forgot to put distinctive body lines on the truck! There was a 98 QC parked a little ways away, so I went over and looked at it. The 2nd gen trucks have very distinct body lines about 1" above each of the fenderwell cutouts. Also above the front fenders there is a long, smooth arch-shaped body line, as well as a similar one half way up the side of the box. In looking at the 02' truck, these were almost invisible. The body panels are more close to the F150 than the current Dodge. Almost totally flat and with very little body lines. I'm sure it's a well built, nice driving truck, and since the F150 is so popular, maybe that's where they're aiming at. But I guess I prefer the body lines of the 2nd gen trucks. I was hoping they would expand upon them, not remove them. I'm no design guru, but even my old 1st gen truck has more body lines on it. Guess I don;t have to worry too much cause I can;t afford a new one anyway! ;)
