Leaving today

I will be leaving for Morehead City, NC in a few hours and plan to push this big rig for 5-6 hours hard at 65-75mph. Pulling my 5er and putting to the test the mods in the last 6 months. You 5. 9er's read and weep in a couple days when I post my dollars per gallon. :-laf

Well I'm here. I ran 68-74 most of the time. Overhead indicated 9. 5 to 10. 5. After hand calc I get 9. 5mph with mostly stong cross winds. Superior power.

Just curious-did you scale the whole rig? 9. 5 is exactly what I was averaging with my 5er last summer from CT to SD. Some of the slower speed limit states I got 10. 5 and in SD where, I guess, technically they have a speed limit, but no one there seemed to know what it was, I got a 8. 7 keeping up with traffic. Overall, I can't complain. I was at about 21,500 pounds.

JB, I do feel your love. I don't normally drive over 70. My 06 5. 9 pulling at 70 got about 1mpg better. This 6. 7 has more power and the 6 speed 68rfe is awesome.



icman, my rig grosses 26k while towing. I also can tell my milage would get 1 to 1. 5mpg better if I slow down to 65.

My 5. 9 can only get 10. 5-11 towing my 33ft 5th @70-75MPH.









It must be your superior power (ive only got 400hp/900lbs with my tow tune)

Jason, I think it shows one of the differences in the 6. 7 & the 5. 9. My 390 HP 5. 9 06 would get 11-12 on this same trip at 70mph.

Guys ... just a quick note about ST trailer tires, most are rated for a maximum of 65 mph. I didn't know that and found out the hard way. When these tires fly apart it gets expensive.

thats why Ive upgraded mine. I had two blow outs on my other trailer at 65Mph on I-5 on a hot day. Took out the fender skirt and part of the wheel liner.



Everyone should look at the tires from the factory on most TT & 5ths. .

Well i would think a lot of it has to do with the size and weight of the two different set ups. Mine is a lot less weight. and ive got 3. 73's on 295's
