Glow Plugs Don't Work

Very slow throttle response on new 2017

I just picked up a 2017 3500 Big Horn. It has the single reflector-style headlights. Has anyone done an LED upgrade for these lights? If so, any recommendations for a good kit? TIA

I'm wondering the same as it looks like a royal pain to remove these lamp asy's. When I have the extra money I'd like to up grade to LED lamps on a nice warm day not some cold winter night in the dark when bulbs normally blow out....

I've been following the many light upgrade threads on the Ram forums, both here and other's. It seems the consensus is that if you have the projector headlights then the LED's are a poor choice and the recommendation is to go with HID's If one has the quad headlights then the LED's will be of some improvement.
The problem is that there's about 1,000 different variants of HID and LED kits and for every one that loves brand "X", there is someone else that hated them. Which is why I haven't done anything with mine.

I have Projectors. I did and recommend Morimoto HID’s all the way. Kit comes with Ballasts and required wiring harnesses. Plug and play and no error codes.

Night and day difference.

I had Oracle HID's installed by a local shop. As has been stated before the headlight assemblies are somewhat a pain to get off. The shop I used has installed many systems before and made it look easy. They did have to add the resistor modules so that I did not get error messages. The lights look and work great on a 2017 Laramie Longhorn with projector beam assemblies. I will warn you that they had to modify the lamp assemblies by drilling and expanding the holes in the back a little to make the HID bulbs fit properly. Overall, it was a good upgrade. They did come with a lifetime warranty also.

I don’t see how the Projector headlight assemblies have changed from 2015 to 2017.
My Morimoto HID bulbs fit the housing without any issue.

LED bulbs on the other hand don’t normally fit without renovating the housing.

There is a huge difference between the projector style lights and the quad (non-projector?) lights. If you have the projectors, go with a HID kit. The improvement is amazing! I tried the LED's in my projectors, hard to believe, but the stock lights were better! The HID's blow them both away.

If you have the quad, the LED's are supposed to work well.

Don't the 2017's up, have the LED's as a factory option?

Maybe I'm confused with the OP's description. I thought he had quad headlights, not projectors. Anywho, they work great in quads. I'm very happy with them. Sorry if I confused the thread!

Nope, you got it right! I chimed in prior to reading the entire thread.

That's what happens when a hose jockey tries to be helpful:-laf Just like usual, you can stage and wait for the cops to make it safe:-laf :-laf :-laf!!!

Ha! But at least I don't have to be anonymous Donut Boy! :-laf Oh and if I could carry at work, no need to stage!:-laf

Morimoto HID Bulbs

I have the projector lights. I have 2 separate bulbs. One each for high and low beam. Will I need to buy two kits or just one kit? I tried doing LED and there is no room behind the dust cover.

I just upgraded my 07 C&C to Halo LED style, and they look great. However they weren't plug and play due to the LED and Halo bulbs. If you have a little time and enough DIY in you, it isn't difficult.

Just a FYI--this is DFW area but I have a couple of LEO friends and one is still goes on patrol sometimes and tells me that having done conversions on the lights which is a very popular mod here is the only excuse he needs to pull you over..

Keep this in mind because they are not DOT approved..

The only reason I have kept mine but upgraded the bulbs and of course have off road lights in the fog cut outs.
