There has to be a specific reason to make the traffic stop in order to find out that they aren't DOT though. Usually its a light that is poorly aimed due to the fact that it doesn't correctly fill out the beam pattern. A light that is aimed high or has a glaring bright spot is usually sufficient reason to make a traffic stop.
In my case, these LED modules perfectly imitate the halogen beam and fill out the reflector correctly. As a result the light was the appropriate beam and I was able to adjust it LOWER than the halogen bulb and still get better visibility. Without giving someone a legal reason to pull me over, they would never know that the bulb isn't DOT.
