I was pulling into an Applebe's parking lot and brushed to close to a tulip tree. The left side mirror was folded back against the side of the truck with alot more force than I would use to fold it manually. The upshot was the mirror popped out.

With visions of a new mirror in the offing, I said what the h--- and gave it a quick whack with the palm of my hand. The darn thing popped back into whatever holds it in place and now works like a charm again.

Got lucky I guess, but who knew. Oo.

The mirrors are pretty tough. I once whacked a tree limb at ~40 mph with the passenger side. It slammed the mirror arm into the folded position, but did no damage.

When my truck was 1 week old the doofus at the local Line-X shop crunched the passenger side mirror against the doorway he was attempting to back through. It cracked the housing, but did no other damage.

I love these mirrors. Always have.

If you adjust the tow mirror all way up and look at the bottom(behind mirror) you will see a clip with two legs that secure the mirror and if you squeeze them together they will release the mirror. Mine fell off while I was installing the mirrors. Just make sure the clip is secure.
