Fryday morning I got up early to get ready to go to OK city for our first anniversary. I read the post on the governor springs and thought about it, so my wife is still in bed, so I went out in the shop just to check. Well make a long story short I droped a screw driver bit in the back end on the pump, I will never, ever use the ... ... bit on the end of the pump again.
Suprisingly my wife did not go to ground when she asked what happened. We just took the Miata which is a blast to drive any way. So after a couple of days out on the Town, and some great ice hockey, we came home.
I tryed to fish out the bit a few times after I got back when I was about to pull the pump when I thought one last time and fish under the weights with a magnet and sweep the hole. To my suprise the bit came out on the magnet. Now what a sigh of relief.
I have helped overhaul sream turbines and you never wont to use a tool over a extraction unless it has a safty line on it. That was my first thought when I lost the bit in the end of the pump.
When you drop some thing in the pump it is not a fun thing. But you can get it out but the lesson here is to use a tool that will not become dislodged or come apart from another tool.
Also I dont reccomend working on the pump a hour before you are getting ready to go on your anniversary.
