Last I've heard that my new 5500 is still sitting in Mexico..... has been built for 28 days and as of last week was not in transit yet... .

The only photo I've seen is of the Sterling in a trade magazine... . but when mine comes in I'll post some pictures.

I just heard on CNN that Thursday the Mexican trucks were to begin hauling goods from Mexico to the US. Their first truck loads were Dodge HD trucks. All the trucks were being held at the railhead. All of them received damage to the side doors due to the inside of the Mexican trucks were 2"s to narrow. Also the engines were started with not enough oil and recieved damage to the internal parts. They had to be winched onto the Mexican trucks. The Mexican trucks will haul their loads straight to the dealer. BUT the dealers will access the damage to doors and engines and will order the replacement parts straight from Mexico. 9-10 weeks shpping dates on the parts.

I watch the vids and rear the article, but no mega cab? He wants to see how the market will respond? Whew, there's a real engineer there! come 'on!

The course looked neat. Hard to get a real perspective on it from in cab though. Too bad you didn't get an outside video of the course. Would have looked neat to see that huge truck on 3 wheels.

It was interesting hearing that big truck creep around those corners in 4-low. CHIRP - CHIRP - CHIRP - CHIRP, LOL

I did video of the track from the outside at last years show - https://www.turbodieselregister.com/06chicago/Videos/06chicagovideoshi.phtml . It's not exactly the same but 95% of it was.
Gee, after watching that ford introduction video I now know Ford will probably be bankrupt in few years. That was the most BS I,ve ever heard, I know that it is an old video clip and probably explains a lot of Fords troubles, but to go on and on about the enviroment and wanting every big city to force the Taxi co. 's into buying there hybrids and they actually are betting the farm on taking our freedoms away so Ford can make a profit. Wasn't that the reason for change in management in Ford lately?

Sorry I couldn't help myself, but thought it had to be said!

Update.....

5500 was ordered in July before dealer had pricing but could place order... .

Truck was built Aug 1, based on dealer information

Yesterday, Sept 8, truck is still sitting on a lot in Mexico, dealer says its not one of the trucks that was damaged because of narrow trailers, but dealer has no idea why the truck is sitting as its listed as a sold order... .

To date I've not seen a dealer with 4500's or 5500's on the lot??? I can only assume some mechanical or safety issue is holding up shipment, and that it's large enough issue that the dealer can't deal with it at his end... . My dealer says they have 10 on order, mine was the first customer sold order... .

No one can tell me they've seen one of these trucks in the US except at shows. No one seems to know if they are still building these trucks... .

Nor have I seen a truck on the Sterling Dealers lot either.....

Anyone in the know, have some answers... .

Nice pics. I think those trucks are going to do very well in fleets. I swear, that front spring looks like thinner wire and a less dense wind that the non-CC trucks.
