Other G-56 threads have gotten hijacked... so I'd like to start a new one.

Please limit you comments to new information about the G-56. Please refrain from making comments like "I'm sure glad I ordered a truck with a NV5600. Or: I love my 1st gen, 2nd gen, allison, RE48 automatic, or whatever, and your 3rd gen with the G-56 stinks. I really don't care what you think about the G-56. I'd really like to hear from guys with G-56's or first hand knowledge of the status and reason for the hold. I don't want to hear about how upset you are that your 2005 is on hold... :(

I own a 2005 with the G-56 transmission. Like many others, I had a truck ordered and it made it as far as the local railyard, where it was put on hold by Chrysler. I weighed my options, then called Dave Smith Motors and put a deposit on one that was almost identical to my order. I flew out the next day and bought it. My main reasoning for this is that I didn't want to wait for all of this to finally sort its way out. Whatever the problem is, Chrysler can fix it under warranty, or I'll be talking to Peter at South Bend Clutch.

I have about 1100 miles on mine and, so far, I really like the setup. Better power, smoother transmission (then my old 2001 NV4500) and smoother clutch, much improved brakes. Other then that I'm just as curious as many of you that want to know what's up with the G-56...
