I'M GETTING READY TO ORDER RANCHO 9000 SHOCKS. LATER (IN ABOUT 6 MONTHS) I WANT TO LEVEL THE FRONT END. WHEN I DO THIS DO I HAVE TO HAVE A LONGER SHOCK IN THE FRONT?

Differing opinions

JBoone,

You will probably find differing opinions on this question. My personal experience with a 3" lift is that the shocks were far too short. They would "top out" hard over the smallest bump in the road, never mind any 4-wheeling. I believe that they still would have been too short with a 2" leveling kit.

Check the lengths of several Rancho 9000's. They may have one that will work at the full extension of the lift AND at full suspension compression. Their catalog shows all the compressed and extended lengths and they may have it on a website also. Good luck.

The stock shocks WILL WORK, some people will tell you they won't, but they will work, without problems. Mine have been on fer over a year, with no problems there's plenty of travel, and besides, the anti-sway bar will stop the axle long before the shock does. I do go off-road, and USE the suspension, it works perfect, granted I don't beat the he!! out of it, 'cause it is a 8,000# truck, but it does the job nicely.

Later, Rob
