I've seen a few long bed 4wds that have a 2" poly spacer, that seem to be fairly level. I bought a set of 2" cast aluminum revtek spacers when i first bought the truck, but on my swb, it sits to high in the front end. I was wondering if any one knows whether or not if i buy a set of poly spacers, if i could cut say 1/2" off the top to where it would sit level. If any has anhy ideas they would be greatly appreciated.

I would think that you could machine 1/2 inch off of the RevTeks It looks like there is plenty of material.

J,

might check this guy out on ebay, http://stores.ebay.com/Top-Gun-Customz_Dodge-lift-kits_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQftidZ2QQtZkm, he made a set of 1 1/2" for less that $100... not cheap crap either, welded steel. last time i talked to them was march of this year i think. he stocked 2" and 3" spacers, but had to make the 1 1/2"... they work perfectly on SWB.

Oh, i forgot... not even a squeak in more than six months.

Dave

I like the look of those solid spacers... is this what you're running?

Wasn't spacers one of the problems that caused the dreaded "Death Wobble"?

I can possibly see how poly spacers might contribute to it, but steel spacers should not be an issue.

Yeah, i run the steel spacers. i was afraid the poly would collapse under the weight of the cummins over time, plus i hated that bright red color. the steel spacer still uses the stock rubber isolator at the top of the coil spring. no change in ride quality at all. didn't even change my toe setting, just had to re-center my steering wheel. i have put them on 5-6 trucks this year... . no squeaks/no problems.

Good point! I can see where steel spacers shouldn't contribute to "Death Wobble" Good thought though, plastic deteriorates in harsh weather conditions, plus the weight of our Cummins engines, poly spacers could be a LARGE factor in "Death Wobble"

Steel or Poly material does not cause the death wobble.

It is caused by the change in Caster due to the arc that the control arms affect the camber change as the axle drops away from the frame.

As the truck is raised, the front axle caster setting becomes more negative, thus causing the wobble.

hasselbach, are you saying after you do a front leveling kit, a guy should do a front end alignment, to correct being out of caster?

Sounds right.

Sounds right.

Regardless of whether you add the leveling kit or not, I always crank as much Caster in the 4wd versions as possible (there isn't much adjustment range to begin with. ).

It helps with the pulling to the right problem. I also found a little more toe in helps too, since the right tire will be loaded more on a crown road, the extra toe helps keep it tracking straight.

This all makes sence. Doesn't the weight of the Cummins have a lot to do with this too?
