I've just recieved notice that my new tires have arrived. I stumbled on a deal through a friend on some 305/70r/17 Goodyear MT/R's. I had ruled them out due to price but could not pass this deal up. What I need to know is do I need to install the spacers in front to lift the truck so the tires wont hit the fenders. The Goodyears are 34" tall. I think it would look better anyway leveled but was wondering from everyones experience what needs to be done. Thanks!

I don't have spacers and my BFG 315/70/17s don't rub the fenders under normal use. They do rub on link arms when making tight turns, especially when turning to the right.

Q - Will 2" spacers reduce the rubbing on the link arms?

The 2" spacers are the same as the 94-02 years, I have heard. My question is are the springs the same and can you use some D25 Skyjacker coils for a 2. 5" lift?

Thanks Jared

Coil Springs

Jared,

I installed the D25 Skyjacker coils on my truck and they fit perfectly. I first had them powdercoated black. If I recall correctly, it gave me 2" even. My 35's have plenty of room (stock rims though). I ordered my springs from Summit Racing and they weren't much more than the spacers. Good luck!

Karl,

Did you order just the coils or a kit of sorts? Were there rear blocks that you could get with the front coils? I'm just thinking maybe it would be better to go 2" front and rear. Or 2" front and 1" rear. ... just thinking.

Brian,

I'm still using the stock shocks... I've had no problems this far but plan on upgrading in the future to Rancho's for 2" of front lift.

Karl

Karl,

Are you having any problems with the stock shocks limiting travel, or bottoming out? I bought the D25 springs, and a set of Rancho 9000s for my '01. 5, but never installed them. Looks like I'll use the springs on the '03, but the shocks won't fit, and Rancho doesn't have anything for the '03s yet. BTW, do you have any pictures with the springs installed? Thanks.

Brian

Brian,

I contacted Rancho right after I lifted my truck and they gave me part #'s for their newest 9000's (x?) with 2" of front end lift. I don't know about the other models but there didn't appear to be a problem with the ones I intend to buy in the near future. I have no clue where I put the part #'s so I guess I'll have to recontact them when I'm ready to purchase.

My stock shocks have worked fine. Like I said earlier, the coils gave me 2" of lift above stock. I haven't done any rock crawling yet or abused my truck too hard but I have had no problems.

I'll try to get a picture soon and post it. Unless there is something unusually different about our trucks, you won't have any problems with the D25's and stock shocks.

Karl

Karl,

Here's the response I got from my email to Rancho:

"Unfortunately we do not offer an application for shocks or steering stabilizer for your 2003 Dodge 1 ton 4x4 at this time. For further assistance please contact our Rancho technical assistance line at 734-384-7803 M-F 8:30 am to 5:30 pm EST. "

Maybe I should give their tech folks a call rather than dealing with their front line staff. Thanks in advance for any pics.
