I currently have 15K plus on my truck. I've used an AC Delco oil filter, and am on my second and last LF3552 oil filter. I just got an engine oil analysis done and my engine and oil is in fine shape. I visually checked the first LF3552 filter when I did my last oil change and it looked fine outside and inside. I would continue to use it because of all of the conflicting information that some of you are experiencing, but there is a solution. Go to the Geno's Garage link and you will see that the LF3894 Stratapore is now available and for only $8. 25. I have not had any problems whatsoever with the LF3552, but since Dodge and Cummins are not recommending it anymore, I'll use the Stratapore. I already have two on order. By the way, here is the response I got from Fleetguard concerning the proper filter to use on the 24V engines:
Thank you for contacting Fleetguard. Your inquiry is important to us.
We have released new oil filters with improved structural strength for the '99 ISB 24 valve engine in the '99 Dodge Ram chassis. In lieu of the LF3349, we are recommending the LF3885 for this application. The LF3894 is the stratapore media version that would be a replacement for the LF3552.
If we can be of further assistance to you, please feel free to contact your Fleetguard Customer Assistance Center or send a message to FleetMaster.
