Noisy hydroboost?

I just replaced both lic plate lights. One was out, the other was still working. But both sockets were melted. ive never changed these myself before, its always been the shop that changes my oil and trans when in for service (theyve always been the ones who notice it and I just have them do it.)

Well, I see there are two lamps for this application. 194 and a 168. The 168 is 5w where the 194 is 3.8. I think they probably were putting 168s in before. What do you use ? I put 194's in thinking the 168s are too hot.
 
Yes. Just don’t be like me and return three of them because they didn’t work, then figure out that the polarity has to be correct with LED’s. If you put it in and it doesn’t illuminate, pull it out, rotate it 180*, and put it back in.....:rolleyes:

Yes, 194 LEDs. Just order a couple extra since they sometimes go out from water intrusion. Probably not an issue for most, but here in South Florida, we're known to get little rain. Probably not sealed real well. They're pretty cheap online.
