I have a 03 2500 w/ auto transmission and about to hit 100k. I was wondering what the life of the catalytic converter was. This is my first diesel so I am not too sure. I had a 97 dodge with a gas engine and that had O2 sensors. At least with that one I would know if the sensors were throwing a check engine light. Then there was the ever popular rattle from the destroyed insides of the cat. Any info would be appreciated.

Hey there,

Unless you have a California model, your 03 shouldn't have a cat.

However, if it does, it should be good for much longer than 100k, especially with a stock truck.

Unfortunately I do have a California model. :{ I am running the Quadzilla commander/Xzillaraider but I keep it on 1 for the most part. So only CA model 2003 trucks have a cat? hmmm

I wouldn't worry to much. I have yet to come across a plugged cat on a CTD.

They do get coated with soot but still flow fine.
