I am going to move my lift pump, and after reading damn near every post on the TDR in regards to this subject, I come up with one conflicting report.

Can you remove the lift pump bracket from the engine and use it on the frame (drilling new holes 180*) or does the 24V lift pump bracket cover the 12V lift pump journal, thus causing a problem if removed?

Thanks.

From what I have heard is that the bracket actually acts as a cover too. I know in my parts catalog for my truck there is a gasket listed for the LP bracket.

Hope this helps

Lama, dont do it!! I did when I first made my own LP setup. Felt good about it cuz its a heckuva bracket. Well genius Jeff didnt realize there are holes behind that bracket from the 12 valve era which had manual fuel pumps. The whole ordeal ending up costing me about $70 as I didnt want to take off my perfect bracket so I bought another one with the gasket and went that route. Costly mistake!:{ I leaked alot of oil from that whole, matter of fact it leaked all the way to California and back. The way the oil seeped out you couldnt see it on the block and it seeped down by the rear main seal and thats what I thought was my oil leak problem. After a trip to the dealer and paying the fee to find out I goofed I had to fix my error.

I have a aux tank in the bed and I'll tell you what works great for a bracket and is cheap is a deck bracket that can be found @ Home Depot.

Awesome response guys... . now I just have to stand in the checkout line for 1-hour at Home Depot to pay for the bracket:D

I put mine on a 4"x3"x4" piece of 1/4" angle iron. Make sure you have enough room for the electrical connector though. The lp can not be centered because the electrical connector sticks out some.

I have to have it plugged in before I mount the studs through their holes in the bracket.

I also got some rubber matt and used that as a noise insulator between the lp and the bracket, and the bracket and the frame.

Works for me though,

You can cover the hole with a plate for the 360 gas engine. When they went to electric fuel pump in the tank about 15-20 years ago they put a 1/4" thick steel plate over the hole. Chevy fuel pump covers work too, I believe. Get them at a speed shop.

Thanks Joe... . sounds like the old "Moroso" cover used to on chebbies when you upgrade from the AC Delco fuel pump to electric. Hope to meet you one day, I live off Horizon Ridge.
