Just got back from the dealer. Was driving my truck this morning and it kept dying, then finally dead. Had it towed to the dealer and they checked it and dead lift pump. They are doing the retro fit kit and putting the new pump in the tank like the new trucks. Anyone had this done and how has it worked out. $1100 will get my truck running.

Kory :(

$1100! Wow, for about 1/3rd of that price you could buy the Glacier Walbro kit, which is a much better fuel pump than the Chrysler in-tank replacement.

It's fairly easy to do in your driveway, and for $700 I'd be all over it.

'03 - Out of warranty?

So, I guess you're out of warranty, huh? That's a bummer... fortunately mine failed at about 75K miles. I'm at 120K+ with the retro-fit kit and no problems, yet. But I'm only running an Edge EZ.

For that much money, should you kick in some juice and get a F. A. S. S. system, or something similar?

Been out of warranty for a while. I have no time to do the after market kit. Baby due next month, finishing house to bring her home, way too much work so I have to pay. I was already looking at the fass kit and was about 2 months away from getting one. I have the BDDl on extream and a ramifier so I know I need one. But I need my truck right away.

You can fly me out to CA with walbro in hand for less than that!! And have a pump that wont leave you high and dry...

That price is just OBSCENE

I had mine done this spring. Fortunately I had a good dealership and it got in on warranty. So far it is working good with the BD Xpower. When I get some time I am thinking of getting a BD fuel pressure kit to be sure fuel pressure is okay. A good dealership should do something for you as the other pumps were a problem. I understand the predicament you are in as I get caught there some times too. Sounds kind of pricey but it should be a good fix. Good luck.

You should also be sure to get your old tank unit back so you can get rid of the in tank pump when you do have the time to upgrade.

Tomey, you are one heck of a guy!!

My lift pumps went out on 98 model when the hurricane hit Texas. I evacuating and on my way to San Antonio and it would not start after filling up with fuel. They had to put the pumps in the fuel tank. It cost $3,600 doll. The parts were $2700 . I took it in at 7 A. M. and they had it ready to go at 5:30 P. M. That was almost a year ago and I have had no problems. Chrysler said that anything over 90,000 miles was living on borrowed time. Your truck will be like a new when you get it back. Hope this helps.
