Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Lift Pump Dead?

I've noticed that my lift pump doesn't hum when the key is in run position, I don't have a pressure gauge yet, and don't seem to have a low power problem, however every now and then I have a launch hesitation, is it bad or am I nuts? Also is it worth fighting with the dealer for warranty, I can purchase a new Cummins pump for $106. 00. 89,000 on the truck. What do you think? Thanks

Take it in and tell them about the hesitation, they may check fuel pressure and put a new lift pump on it.

Mine is biting the dust as well. Would you mind posting the part number for the cummins pump on here? Also, do you know of any webpage/threads which contain instructions/pictures of the installation of a Lift Pump. Thanks

i had the stealership replace mine yesterday. the only problem was the mech. first of all wouldnt believe my guage or put his on to test it. i dont know what happened, but the next day they replaced the pump under warranty. let them pay for it , those of us still under warranty.
