Bad LP and they want to replace the VP under warranty??? Count your lucky stars it didn't happen in another 6001 miles.

I'd go for it MHO.

I would imagine that the dealer gets compensated by DC to do any warranty work on the truck - I think it's a set amount for each item, which is less then if you were to go there in another 6000 miles and have the work done out of warranty. I would get the new LP and VP44. You might want to ask about a warranty for those parts that are being installed since you are so close to the end of the original warranty - they may give a specific warranty on the pumps that would extend past the orignal warranty period.

Like these guys said, take it and run! It may already be damaged from the bad lift pump. Your story is actually opposite of mine. When the weather would warm up my truck would cut out under light throttle; and of course they could not replicate the problem. They actually reaplced the lift pump because it was out of spec. The problem was still there and a "inj. pump timing failure" code popped up. They then finally replaced the VP44. I was told by the dealer that it was a somewhat restricted part for warrentee work becasue of the cost so they had to investigate other causes first.

I have heard that warrentee work does not pay as much but I can not confirm that. So if they are doing this for free, I would be all over that!:D

Great Dealer!!

They are taking good care of you. They probably know that the VP44 often fails some time after the liftpump does and are making sure that you are in good shape before your warranty is gone.

I (we) can only wish that ALL dealers were so conscientious in looking out for the interests of their customers. Count your lucky stars and thank the service manager profusely.

I'd give 'em the left one if the dealer would replace my VP-44 w/o questions asked... .

"What wire? I don't know what you're talking about! Injectors? Who, me? Nope, near as I can tell that FP gage has never been below 10 PSI!"

hahahahaha... lucky *******
