just moved the pump back by the tank today . removed the banjo bolts between pump and filter. gained about 2lbs. pressure. i would like to get the manufacturer ,part number and description of the plugs that go into the pump and engine harness. i used the ones of the pig tail harness and butt spliced them to 14 ga. wire. works for now but not very neat. i would appreciate any help. thanks :) :)

They are Deutsch Connectors DT Series. You'll need the socket (female) and the plug.

The Socket is DT-04-2P and you'll need the secondary lock W2P.

The Plug is DT-06-2S and the secondary lock is W2S.

The Sockets accept pin terminals and the plugs accept socket terminals.

Open barrel pin terminals for 14-16GA wire is 1060-14-0122. The open barrel socket terminals for 14-16GA wire are 1062-14-0122. These are the metal connectors inside the connectors.

You'll also need special crimpers for these. Look at the wires you have and you can see how they get crimped. You can get the crimpers at Napa. They also make a plastic tool to help disassemble them but I can do it with a pocket knife.

Call Terminal Supply in Indianapolis at 1-800-989-9632 or visit http://www.terminalsupplyco.com/

All of the above part numbers are from Terminal Supply. I have their catalog and they are the best automotive wiring supply place I've ever found. They have everything you can imagine for factory wiring and more.

Hope this helps. Once you mess with them you'll get the hang pretty easy. Order extra pin and sockets as you may mess one up the first time you crimp one.

EDIT: Come to think of it... all you'll need are the metal pins and metal sockets as the plugs are re-usable. No need to comletely replace.

FourBarR, The connectors are Deutsch or DT connectors. I work for a CAT dealer and they use them almost everywhere on CAT's now. An engineer told me they were the best available. I know you can get them at a CAT dealer, if you ask the parts guy to print you a copy of Special Instruction form #SEHS9615, it contains all the part numbers for all pieces you will need and instructions on how to assemble the connectors, you will need the pieces for a 2 pin connector for our fuel pumps. I could also fax you a copy monday when I get back to work if you want to PM me with a fax number. You might try a Cummins or Detroit dealer also but I don't think you can walk into any automotive shop and pick them up. I also want to warn you that you need a special 4 prong crimping tool to crimp the pins to the wires before you push them into the plastic plugs. A regular crimper won't crimp them right and they won't lock into the plastic plugs, believe me because I screwed a bunch of them up when I was a field mechanic and I was trying to make due without the right tools. The tool from CAT is a 1U5804 and it is almost $300. 00. There must be other places to get the Deutsch connectors and parts from but I'm a captive audience so this is the only place I know.

Ncostello is right. You can disassemble your old connectors and reuse the plastic receptacles, plugs, and wedges. All you need are new pins and sockets. If you get them from CAT they are part numbers: 1) 16-18 GA wire, 8T8729 pins & 8T8730 sockets. 2) 14 GA wire, 9W0852 pins & 9W0844 sockets.
