Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Lift Pump Electrical

Going to install pusher pump tonight and I was going to splice the pigtail that came with replacement LP to trigger the relay for the pusher. I put a light on the plug but doesn't seem to have power with the key in the run position. Can someone explain how to determine which is +? On the replacement LP pigtail there are numbers on each side of the plug... 1 & 2. There are no stripes on the wires that I can see but there is a yellow piece of tape on one wire if that means anything. Thanks!

You have to bump the starter to activate the factory lift pump. It should run for several seconds, enough to give you time to determine which wire is the + wire. You might have someone in the cab bump the starter and you can be under the hood checking the wires.
