2001 truck has fuel pump in tank pressure at 4-5 psi Truck will not start code in the injection pump. Have to replace injection pump. What to do about the in tank fuel pump is a air tech pump ok. How can you convert it back to outside pump. Some said you could just hookup a pump outside and not remove intank pump. Try that does not work.

Pete,

The correct thing to do is drop the tank and put in a Vulcan Draw Straw, or install an external fuel tank sump (which doesn't require dropping the tank), and mount a new lift pump of your choice on the frame just in front of the tank. I have an Airtex lift pump on the frame and I'm quite happy with it. It's inexpensive enough that I carry a spare just-in-case. It'd only take 10 minutes to swap out if ever needed.

Best regards,

John L.

Vulcan also makes a straw that allows u to gut the internal pump and replace it with a draw straw. This option is good because it eliminates the 1/4 tank poor fueling issues. Then u can run an air dog or fass pump or what ever u want.
