Hi all,

I changed fuel filter last night and couldn't get it started after. (66k on truck) Unscrewed the lid and no fuel coming in when pump was running. Ended up filling the canister with fuel and using the w-d40 in the intake. Fired right up and runs good now. How do you know if the lp is going bad? PS I dont have a fp gauge but am ordering one as we speak. Thanks for the help! :)

The fuel filter housing shouldn't have been empty when you changed the filter. It should have been almost full.

One good way to know if the LP is working until you get a FP gauge is to remove some of the fuel from the filter housing and put the lid back on then cycle the key a few times somewhere quiet. You should hear fuel squirting into the housing.

Or you could get a pressure guage and hook it up to the schrader valve on the injection pump. Tape the gauge to the windshield, or dash or somewhere visible and go drive around, less than 5psi at WOT is bad news.

You shouldn't worry though, take it to a dealership and have them look at it, its free, unless you tapped the pump wire.

Yep unfortunatley for me I tapped the wire :D . After putting in the new filter I could hear the pump running but no fuel coming in. I will try removing some and watching it fill back up. Thanks for the suggestions. Just don't want the vp to go south. I'm saving for transmission upgrades :-laf
