Archived Lift pump for 98.5 24v

lift pump is shot and the dealer tells me they cannot get the old-style

unit that mounts up in the engine bay. They say that the only parts they

can get is a retro-fit of the new in-tank pump... and that is back ordered for approx 2 weeks.



Anyone else hearing this? Where can a guy get an old-style unit just to get back on the road? BTW, I think the in-tank unit is about a no-brainer, but come on... let's make it a little more convenient!

You Can Still Get The Original From Cummins Or Any Diesel Shop. They Are On Back Order From Chrysler. Dealers Have To Use In Tank For Warranty Repairs But Customer Pay We Give The Owner The Option.

you can get original carter pumps from the aftermarket. napa has them.

I would buy the vulcan kit and get the old style pump on the frame. It's the best, rock solid pressure and it's easy to change. I picked up my pump at an independant repair shop using the recall number. if you can't get one let me know and i'll try and get one for you.

Whatever you do, DON'T do the in-tank set-up! For what that would cost you could get a walbro set-up and have alot more pressure.

I went with the vulcan kit and the campaign lp (search for campaign lp on here) the pump came in a kit that had extra stuff you won't need but for @ $70 great it will mount to the stock location but i would reccomend moveing it to the frame as well.

Now that i think about it search for "the 70 dollar lift pump" and you will find the part # you need and then go to a Kenworth or such dealer that sells cummins stuff and give them that # hope this helps

Call Jeff at ADI in Decatur, IL he's got a better quality lift pump in stock 217-963-2097. I put one on my 2001 and I've had not trouble. JCH.
