Hello All, last year my gages saved my VP44. I replaced a dying Carter lift pump with the replacement model from Advanced Auto (don't remember brand). Worked great, 15lbs with engine at idle, 11-13 at speed (65mph). lately I've noticed in the morning idle pressure is around 10 and cruising is around 5 (pre and post filter. Is the lift pump going or is it because of the cold?

:D You're in Florida. It doesn't get cold down there.

Even at -10 F and below, I'm still showing 8psi or better on mine (and it'll read low due to the air bubble I purposely keep in the hose between the fuel filter adapter and the Westach sensor. )

It might be time to think about either replacing the lift pump, moving the lift pump, or a different pump altogether.

Ok, sounds like it's time to go to the FASS system.

You may consider 13 degrees as being comfortable up there in MN, but for me 95 degrees and 98% humidity is a nice day. ;-)

Thanks.

One more question...
I'm running over sized (75hp) Bosch injectors, should i go with a bigger lift pump? I was thinking about the FASS DDRP, but if I'm going to burn it up in a year like the last 2 a 4 year warranty wont do me any good if I'm broke down waiting for the replacement.

:D 13 degrees F *IS* comfortable. I sure ain't comfortable in 95 degree 95%RH conditions.

I've got Jammer Stage II tips and a Smarty on my 99. The stock Carter pumped relocated down the the frame rail seems to be able to keep up the flow for the moment. I haven't had the opportunity to do any heavy towing yet, though. I do expect the Carter to die, I'll probably put in the Airtex replacement.

I have the FASS 95gph pump and it feeds my 75hp injectors just fine. If I remember, the FASS site gives criteria for ordering the bigger one (150gph) and it says most people will do just fine with the 95.

OK, looks like the FASS 95. I haul a 27' trailer filled with motorcycles, so the extra pressure/flow should be just right.

Thanks Guys,

Shannon

I have the Fass DDRP, 100hp nozzles, comp box and super b turbo. I hold 11 psi at full throttle getting up to speed. The lowest I have seen is 9 while pulling.

You got to be kidding. It gets that hot and I hibernate. I have yet to upgrade my L. P. I do have it relocated to the frame rail with 3/8"line all the way to the VP44. So far I have 14psi @ idle and 11psi @ 65mph never below 8 at W. O. T. So far I have only needed two pumps in over 232k miles.
