trying to help a friend with a 99 4x4 24v, he ran through a waterhole and it quit, he took it to the stealer, I mean the dealer and they said the lift pump got wet and cooled off to quick and it damaged it, does the 24v have a lift pump like a 12v or is it different? And does what they told him sound right? Thanks, Chris... ... ... ... .....

The lift pump is half way up the block, but they are a weak link in the 24V's anyway. The water could have rushed the death of the pump, but it was probably already going south.

Well, that's the first time I've heard of water cooling the pump causing it to fail... Jetson is probably right, that pump was dying long before a splash of water hit it and IMHO, cooling the exterior of a vaned pump would not cause it to fail.

Chris, we are blessed(LOL) with an electric lift pump on the 24 valve'ers. Unlike your mechanical pump, our's fails alot, my first one was pushing up daiseys at 2200 miles  .
