History: 99 Model, Auto 355 Diff. 62,000 Miles. @15,000 Miles Truck Would Do 0-60 In 12. 8 Seconds.

9/3/02: Installed Quadzilla Performance Chip. "Borrowed" Did 0-60 In 11. 5 Seconds. Took Chip Off and Ran 0-60 In 15. 7 Seconds. Did Not Get 0-60 Before.

Problem: Couple Days After Trying Quadzilla I Had Came To A Stop And When Tried To Accelerate There Was No Throttle Response For A Few Seconds. Check Engine Light Came On And Stayed On Until I Disconnected The Battery Cable. Engine Would Surge At Times When First Started.

9/20/02: Changed Fuel Filter (@15000 Miles) Pulled Plug Out Of Top Of Filter Housing, Bumped Starter, No Diesel. Tried This Several Times, Still Would Not Prime. I Then Put A Hose In Fuel Tank And Packed Off With A Rag And Pressurized Tank By Blowing Into It. Diesel Came Out Of Top Of Filter. I Installed Plug And Pressurized Tank Again. Wife Started Truck While I Held Pressure On Tank. Check Engine Light Came On Again. Drove Truck About 8 Miles And Check Engine Light Went Out. Did 0-60 At This Point In 13. 5 Seconds. Any Thoughts Anyone (Drove 03 3500 Crew Cab Single Rear, SB, Auto, Couple Days Ago, Everything But Electric Seats, Sticker 34,400. ) Member Since 1999, 1st Post

You've figured it out

Put on new lift pump.

I'm not familiar with D/C codes but you could be logging Cummins code 278- lift pump curcuit, 368- VP-44 can't achieve commanded timing, both can be caused by the faulty lift pump. You really need a gauge to monitor lift pump at all times or at least a warning light.

Try www.batauto.com for D/C code description, toggle key three times leaving in the on position, and read codes on the odometer
