Whats the latest and greatest lift pump part number?

Is it worth it to just change my good (but 99 model) for the newest version?

Thanks

Curt

I have been thinking about chaning out my perfectly good lift pump for the new one I have in the tool box just to see the difference and to see if it helped my fuel economy. I am not at home so I don't have the # handy. . sorry.

The latest and greatest is from CUMMINS and is $142. 00 see my sig for the part # , as far as your pump I would'nt change it unless your psi #'s are fluctiating or low... ... ... ... . JMO... . Kevin

Part #'s

Unless there is a newer one,

Lift Pump 3990105

Wiring Harness 4025182

Some Cummins shops sell the pump and harness as a kit for around the same price as the pump alone.

Why is the wiring harness 4025182 required or are you positioning the new lift pump back by the fuel tank which is, I understand, the way to go?

It is covered under the 100k. If you don't mind waiting a week for the dealer to do the work... .

Harness

I believe the 99 and older trucks need the harness to enable the stock harness to connect to the new lift pump design. Cummins only stocks one style of lift pump now, the harness allows trucks that used the older style to use the new pump.

I haven't actually swaped one out on an older truck so I don't know exactly what the differences are.

If you are moving your pump back towards the tank or adding a pusher and tapping into the factory wiring that powers the lift pump the harness from Cummins is the only way to go. Keeps you factory harness intact and eliminates the hardest part of the job.
