Father-in-law had a brain fart and filled up at the local coop that is known for bad fuel. He called me the other day saying he had almost no fuel pressure. Its a 99 6spd stock except an EZ. A year ago I replaced the stock LP with an airtex replacement. I just went down and changed the fuel filter and the bowl was full of crap. You could actually see the crap all through the filter without a light! Now, it idles at 7psi and drops to 1psi as soon as you touch the throttle. Do you think it ate the airtex or is the inlet plugged or both? I'll probably try to talk him into an AIRDOG but my truck is completely disassembled for repainting and I don't have the time right now.

Is the pressure pre or post filter?. If post it is probably a filter change. If pre it could be the pump, clogged screen in the pump or the screen in the tank. If the fuel is that bad and clogging filters he is going to be going thru a lot of filters.

you need a fass or air dog

that vp44 is nothing to play with

it needs good fuel pressure

and what you have is not good

I would park it untill I got her rite

you'll get a good one :eek:sooner or later

if it was me I would before I made the vp44 go bad with low fule pressure

my trucks pump gets 20 psi at idle and 18 psi at 65mph

thats after the filter

before the filter 21psi at idle and 19 on the road

thank what you want the fuel pump on a 24v is the hart of the engine if it gos bad and you run it that way you can start looking for a new vp44 if you go thru this a time or two you will learn the first thing to do to a 24v is upgrade the fuel pump with the best you can get. pump warranty is everything
