Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Lift Pump or VP44 failure?

I have a 2001. 5 5-speed and have been getting errattic throtle response. After start up my fuel pressure reads 10 to 15 psi at idle until i give it a little push then it drops to 4 or less and remains down in that range. I have a Fass ordered and on the way, but from reading some of these other threads I think my vp is on its way out. I did the code check and these codes appeared, p1693 p0216,p0577. Any advice?

Well, the 0216 is well known 'round these parts to be the "VP44 DEATH-CODE".

0216 was the death throes of my Injector pump I put the Fass in at 20K but that was too late.
