I have a '98 12 valve and I feel I may need to replace my lift pump. The pressures are on the low side but not bad. The truck runs great but the pump makes a lot of noise. It ticks quite a bit, even or uneven and it's a loud tick not just the normal lift pump tick (it comes and goes). When I checked my pre filter (gravel screen) I found there was a very small amount of metal shavings in the bottom, which I could pick up with a magnet.

Anyway I would like to know if anyone has the Cummins part number for the latest revision of this lift pump. I would also like to know if there is a place on the net or by phone to buy these things for a good price. I have not called my closest Cummins dealer yet.

Thanks,

I wish I could help with the PN, but can't find my ticket. My 97 had a leaking lift pump at about 85k or so, and it was replaced by a Dodge dealer under the Cummins 100k warranty, didn't cost me a cent. They put an "upgraded" part number on it, that replaced the original pump with a newer design. They said it was about $180. 00 for the pump, and about 2 hrs labor to put it on.

Hey! I just stumbled on to the ticket for the fuel lift pump replacement on my 97. The part # for the pump they put on is... ... . 5012209-AA and the gasket # 2843770. Hope this something you can use, & I hope you can get it done under the 100k engine warranty.

Thanks

I doubt I can get this done under warranty because I have tweaked the pump some, I'm not the original owner, and the truck was wrecked so...

Dennis, is that a Cummins or a DC part number?

Lift Pump #

Andy,

About a year ago, I was told (by a Cummins rep. ) that the latest part # for the lift pump was #3936316. Is your information more recent?

Rabbit out of the Hat

If you have a Case IH dealer in your local dealer, which sells farm equipment and constuction equipment stop and pay them a visit. reason i say this i just changed the lft pump on my '94 fo $87 which was a brand new unit off the shelf. Some people forget and this issn't a blanket statement but the 5. 9 is used in a tremendouse amout of off road equipment Case backhoes, loaders, and case IH maxum series of tractors not to mention tons of Agchem spraying equipment the list goes on and on. So dont leave out these guys for sources of parts. Not to mention that some may of heard of CDC which stands for Consolidated diesel Corp. which was a company started by Cummins and Case IH to supply engines for themselves for this very reason tractors and other offroad equipment. Not to be a wise *** but its a altenative to DC and others out there rapeing the public for parts. Last but not least alot of Case IH dealers are Cummins dealers as well even if you don't see the sign just ask. Later TD
