I have a 2005 Dodge and I have read about the lift pump problems. I have 140K and have had no problem, but I would like to be in front of any problems. I was down to NAPA the other day and mentioned about lift pump pressure and the service counter guy said that his friend had a Dodge and pulled around 30K lbs and so he had some lift pump problems. He said his friend solved the problem by adding an addition lift pump back by the tank without removing the one on the engine block. He also said he added a light that tells when the puressure drops down about 3+ lbs. My question is has anyone heard of this before and does the idea sound rational ? Appreciate any input on the subject.
NAPA guy also said that lift pumps should be mounted near the tank, and not up on the block. Said they work better pushing than pulling fuel.
Oo.
