I just installed a lift pump pressure gauge in a 2002. It seems to act diffrently than the one on my 2001. It will build pressure (15psi)when I bump the key and then sometimes it drops off to 1or 2 psi and stay there when the key is bumped. The pump also sounds as though it wont maintain prime. Shouldnt it keep pressure whenever the engine is running?

should maintain fuel pressure when engine is running. some pumps are better than others. new pump should be 15-16 at idle. 12- 13 at 70mph maybe 9-10 at wot. on my forth pump at 332000 km.
