I just installed a new west tech fuel pressure gage an ran along for two days with the expected reading of 12 to 15 psi. Yesterday leaving work I fired the truck the gage read 14psi, I stoped after about 100 yards to pull out on the road and the pressure droped to 2psi, and when I let off the throttel it would climb from 0psi to about 5psi. This happened for about 10 miles running at 30 to 60 mph, then all of the sudden the pressure went back to normal for about 2 miles the back to o or 5psi bepenting on the throttel load. When you turn the truck off, then fire it back up the pressure is normal for a short period of time then drops off to 2psi. I ran to work this morrning, about 30 miles at 0 to 5 psi. I have checked all gage connections and the fittings are tight, and the instualtion is correct. Am I to assume this lift pump is going south. I posted this on 911 due to a long trip planed in two days. I would be great ful for any input.

I know when mine went out it never died. It just worked erratically like you mentioned but slowly and surely had less and less peak pressure and crusie pressure over time and lower wot pressure.

Mine had similar symptoms about a month ago. I replaced the fuel filter and re-tightened the terminals on the sender and the problem went away.

My 01 did that same thing during a trip heading home, so i bought a new filter and lift pump and did the filter change at home then had the pump just in case. All was good until 100 miles away from home when it started acting up again, so i did a road side swap and all was fine. Took me 45min on the side of the road with minimal tools. My NAPA pump puts out 14. 5 psi at idle while the factory dodge pump only put out 12 at idle. That lift pump only last 10k miles :{ , lets hope the napa pump last long enough so i can get a fass or something.
