Hi All.

I spent most all afternoon installing gauges in my 01 2500. when I was more or less done I turned the key and my lift pump won't cycle. It had been fine before. My thought is that I could have messed something up while wiring the gauges. The only wires I tapped into were the dimmer wire (maybe tan?) right behind the light switch, and an ignition on wire (I think blue) that I tapped into right above the plug entering the keys/headlights/open door buzzer.

What fuses/relays should I be checking. Thanks in advance.

Bump the starter but don't let it start. The lift pump should run for 25 sec.

With just the key on, maybe you are missing it (know I can't hear it sometimes).

thanks. I tried that and still can't hear anything. I don't know what fuses to check, etc. I swapped the fuel system relay w/ another identical one and got nothing. I pulled the terminal entering the bottom of the lift pump and one of the two wires entering it (the forward one if looking at the plug as it is oriented in the pump) lit the wire tester for the 25 sec. after the starter was bumped. Could it still be electrical? It seems like too much of a coincedence that the lift pump would crap out immed. after installing a fuel pressure gauge.

Mine was dead when I installed my gauge. Now I'm on my 3rd LP.

Bump the start and then tap on it durning the 25 sec run time. Oh yeah connect the neg battery leads back up if you forgot to. SNOKING

probably would've been but the nearest dealer's a real p. i. t. a. & the truck wouldn't start to get it there, so I picked one up for 160 bucks from a local cummins shop. plus didn't feel like disconnecting the EZ.

swapping the new one in was real easy. took less than half an hour getting at it from up top. I didn't bother moving the dipstick tube or anything like that. the only annoying part was holding the pump in place and getting the first nut started on one of the mounting posts all with one hand. I was able to hold the pump between my middle and ring fingers and start the nut with my pointer and thumb. the next time I'll get someone to hold the pump in place from below for that part of the job. while I wouldn't go out and buy one just for this job, using a 17mm stubby wrench was pretty handy & makes it pretty tough to overtorque the banjo bolts. a regular 17 mm will fit tho.
