Here's what I am looking at.
This all started today with not much prior warning. today was about 45deg F and it has been fairly nice the past 2 weeks or so.
Started truck this afternoon and everything was fine. FP ran right up to 11. 6 then as I drove a few miles it was 12. 2 idle.
As I was driving, at aprox 45mph I looked over at the FP gauage and it was showing 5. 0psi. I was not accerlating or pulling a hill and was actually in a slight down grade. I let off of the accerlator and the pressure slowly climbed back up to 11psi. Started to give it fuel and it ran fine the rest of the trip, with steady FP around what I would normally see.
Stopped and turn truck off for about 2 hours and then got going again and truck ran fine for about 10 mins, then the same low pressure at aprox 45mph. Let off the accelarator again and it very slowly climbed to about 8. 0psi and held steady. Dropped quickly when I pulled away from stop sign and I was cruising through my neighborhood at 15-20mph with 7psi. Pulled into garage and let idle for cool down and at shut down (aprox 30 secs of idle) FP was 12. 2psi.
I really dont think that I had any loss of power but really didnt get into it hard when i saw the PSI. Fuel FIlter only has 3k on it, I have over 3/4 tank of fuel from my regular fuel stop, and no hard start. I run stanadyne in every tank too.
Lift pump normally reads aprox 12 (warm) idle, 9. 4psi cruising at 70MPH and 5. 0 at WOT. I have no power mods.
Looks to me like LP is on the way outta Dodge, so to speak. What is DC using for the replacement "spec" on the pumps? I have heard so many different figures (12 idle, 10 idle 8 WOT) which is it and getting info and LP's outta DC is like blood from a stone. I'm still under warranty and would prefer that they take care of THEIR problems ( thats what a warranty is for) but dont know if they would because my idle FP is actually with in "all" the specs that I have heard.
Any ideas or should I plan on a roadside change to my spare one of these days ( Mr Murphy from the Law Hates me by the way, so it will be in the middle of the night in the rain and my flash light will die too). Also any way to get a dealer to change out the pump with out it being dead? Do they accept the fact that they sometimes work intermintently?
Any help would be appreciated.
