I just droped the lift pump pushrod in to the pan. Does anyone have any ideas short of droping the pan. I seem to remember seeing something about it in past threads. :-{}

I wouldn't worry about it. There's a screen on the oil pump intake it's not going in there. If you're concerned about it bouncing up into the crankshaft just place a strong magnet on the bottom of the oil pan to hold it in place till the time comes when you have a bigger excuse to drop the pan.

Mine fell out of the pump as I removed it, but it fell outside the engine. I didn't realize there was enough space for it to fall inside.

Maybe next oil change poke a bent wire in the drain hole and go fishing. I was going to suggest a magnet, but I think it would just stick to the pan and not go anywhere. Just don't get it caught on something that doesn't come out.

There probably is plenty of space for it to lay down there and keep out of the way. Just knowing it's down there must be a little uncomfortable :rolleyes:

big magnet

get a strong magnet and put it against the oil pan and keep dragging it to the drain hole. maybe it will move to the opening and then grab the end of it and pull it out.

You da man, now that raises a question what is the Clarence between the pan and pump pickup? Let say some one dropped a lifter in the pan while doing a cam change, would it be better to open the pan then Tig it back up or pull the pan, say you didn't have a hoist to raise the motor... . just a thought! Al(PDR... Al) said he's done several x-members while the motor was out so you could pull the pan without pulling the motor... . normal gasser High HP stuff!
