Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Lift pump question again??

I bought a lift pump that I believe is like the copies on Ebay. It says AC on it and is made in England. My question is, when you push the plunger on this one, you can push it in with one finger. My stock one that (WAS) leaking, I had to push the pump against something to push the plunger in. It is my understanding that spring is what gives you pressure?? I am not going to put this copycat on my truck. I am going to get a Carter pump from Case/IH dealer, since I got my pump hillbillied and not leaking, I can get to the dealer and get the right pump. .
