I am interested in hearing from people who have replaced the lift pump, because it failed or because you determined it was going bad and just replaced it. Did you just change it out and then just start it up, what if any bleeding of the fuel lines or other action did you take after you replaced the pump. I have not changed mine yet, but have new pump I purchased from Cummins in the truck. Presently I have 63K on truck and fuel pressure is good @ idle 14. 0 before filter and 13. 0 after. Thanks in advance. 2001. 5 3500 Dually

Easiest way I found to do it was to put on the new pump, bump the starter to get the lift pump running, then have someone hold the schrader valve at the VP-44 open till you get fuel flowing out. That helps to get the remaining air out of the filter canister and the lines to the VP44. Once you're getting good fuel at that valve, just go ahead and start it up.

I've done three so far, and they get easier each time.
