lift pump sound

Should you normally hear the lift pump cycle when just turning the key to the "on" position while waiting for the "wait to start" light to go out? I only hear it if I turn the key to "start" momentarily or "bump" the starter.

Have no fear, that is exactly what you should hear. The pump will only run if you bump the starter and should run about 15-20 secs and then quit if you do not start the truck.

My pump has always run for 3-4 seconds when just turning the key on.

Mine does the same as yours Ramboy. But if I bump the starter it will run longer.
