Just installed my BD X-Monitor gauges. Lo and behold the fuel pressure is a measly 2. 0-2. 1 psi at idle and goes to zero under the slightest load. I looked at my warranty book and can't seem to figure out how long the lift pump is covered for. I have 69K on my '01. Am I covered, so am I going to have to eat it?

Also, with the number of lift pump failures I've seen everyone experiencing, why is everyone replacing them with the same thing, just to fail again? I have done some reading on the FASS system and would think in the long run this is the way to go.

I was in last night for it. The dealer told me it is under the "Cummins" warranty, meaning that for me it is under the 7-year, 100K mile warranty.

The reason people replace them with the same thing is that it doesn't cost any money if you are stock (or have a sympathetic dealer), and can live without your truck for half a day.

There were a lot of people who thought their solution "was the way to go," but some of those have turned up to be problematic pumps too. Lots of people are waiting on the FASS to see if it will last.

I find it funny how most Dodge dealerships have no problem whatsoever replacing a failing lift pump under the 100K warranty. Yet when the Crankshaft Position Sensor goes south and causes all kinds of problems... they claim "Its not an internal engine part and isn't covered under the warranty". Hmmm... I didn't know the lift pumps were "inside" the engine either.

Everyone should be glad Dodge does in fact replace bad pumps on trucks under warranty (for the most part anyway :)).

The L/P should be covered under the 5/100,000 waranty.

That being said.....

Personally, I would recomend any other other fuel system then stock. I personally run a FASS, but almost anything would be better than what comes with the truck. I can not think of any worse design than our fuel system.

Remember, D/C wants the truck to last 3 years, then to break, so people will go and buy a new one Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo.
