:confused:02 5. 9 cummins with 160,000 mi. . In the last 60,000 mi. I have replaced 2 injection pumps,3 lift pumps and 3 throttle position sensors. Can anybody offer any advice on how to solve these problems. Thanks Rick

I have 354000kms on my 98. 5. it has the original injection pump, and apps. i have had 4 lps. after the third lp i moved the pump back near the tank. the new pump has 16 psi at idle 14 psi at 70 mph. we will see if it lasts any longer. Iuse howes meaner additive to every tank of fuel. my truck has no power increases, has k&n filter and 4 in s. s. exhaust. and of course the #53 block.

Seems to me like a truck that is eating up injection pumps and lift pumps would have a problem at the source (tank). I'd take the tank off and make sure it's not restricting the fuel flow and making the LP work too hard and then causing the VP-44 to go out.

Possibly algae build-up in the tank or something plugged/restricted in the tank.

There is a thread today about a guy that looked and did some surgery into his fuel pickup in the tank. He had low fuel flow problems.

I feel your pain. In the first 68000 miles I am on my 3rd I/P. 5th L/P, and 2nd vacuum pump. Oh yes, and the 2nd APPS.

If I were you I would check your tank and line for restrictions. But to save yourself some hassle buy an upgraded fuel system. Oo.
