New Owner Question- smell

Fog lights dont work>>>>>

My 2001 has the infamous lift pump. Ive been studying ways to solve this problem. Latest brainstorm!! Will the newer style in tank lift pump sending unit interchange with my current unit. ? Are the newer style more reliable? If it fits shall I eleiminate the current pump and just rely on the in tank unit?. I use this truck as a daily driver, no high performance, or baha-ing. Thanks for your help. Frank

it wouldnt hurt to get a fuel pressure guage so you can atleast see what its doing. i would also recommend getting an aftermarket pump of some kind, it will help save your injection pump. I have a Walbro pump and i love it, works great. i'm sure a fass pump, or holly blue would work well for you too.

Get a fuel pressure gauge as you will not know if your lift pump dies, and then VP44 will soon after. Truck will run with a none working lift pump but not for long. I have a Fass on my 2002 and its been running perfect since I installed new version pump. If a in tank pump fails, think about what a pain it is to change!

A fuel pressure gauge is a must have. I have replaced a few lift pumps, the last was the new in the tank pump about 40,000 miles ago it puts about a steady 8 psi all the time. As a side benny it will fill your fuel filter before it shuts off after a filter change.
